WE HAVE LANDED! Brian and I have been looking for a house and/or land since October 2013. We had contracts on a couple of different properties, and nothing was working out. In February of this year we had a contract on 20 acres. It was beautiful land, but the price was really making us squirm. When the property owner decided to go with another bidder (there is so much more to the story, but another time and place) we were relieved yet bummed because yet again we were back to square 1 with no plan.
Then a week later we received a call from a woman who owned the property right across the street from the 20 acres we were trying to buy. It was seriously a God-send. The property wasn't even for sale. She had just learned from a relative about the trouble we went through with the other property, and she was willing to sell us some of her 60 acres if we were interested. We went to look at the property on a cold and windy day in the end of February. Bryson and Mike went with Brian and I. We started to walk around on the property, and immediately we got that feeling. You know the one where it just feels right. I look over at Bryson and he has this huge grin on his face, checking out the pond, running around, and playing with sticks (typical boy things; Avari would have asked us to carry her so she wouldn't get her shoes dirty).
We asked the seller to go ahead and get the survey done. Once that was started we told her we wanted the property. We agreed on 15 acres. It is beautiful land and in a great location (near town but still country). We are seriously less than 2 miles from Wal-Mart. The buying process took awhile, but it was worth the wait. We finally closed on the property on June 27th. Below are some pictures of the land.
Here are some views of the East of the property facing the main road.
This is the Southwest view of the property. Can you see all the pecan trees?

We met with an architect towards the end of May, and finalized the house plans two months later. We are so anxious to get started on building our home!
